Miguel:
He wrote a great story for the book night.  It was called Candy Planet and featured Aminah, Finley, and Michael.  It has a plot structure, good vocab (metal lever) and had lots of great dialog.  It was pretty cute and I was impressed with his ability to write a very good story.

Tonio-
Has bugs in his hair!  It is not lice but some kind of bug.  The other day Tonio took a bath and Brian scrubbed his head hard and it looked like he went to the beach- it was so dirty in the tub.  The same for Miguel.  Then we put the lice shampoo in their hair and then rewashed it and it still was a dirty tub.  It was so gross.  Their hair was so soft though.  I am kind of embarrassed at how dirty and grimy their hair got.  Today we got their hair cut a bug flew out of Tonio's hair!  Gross.

New Years Blues

January was a rough month:  the very first day I find out S. has cancer.  Then Brian has no job, four boys were shot in a car near our house, three people killed near my school, no rain- not a drop, a man found chopped up in a suitcase near the afterschool program, two big fires.  It was so heavy.  The one thing has been the boys.  They drive me nuts but things are so nice with them.  I still get mad way to easily all of the time and I need way more paitence and I still am overcome with guilt a lot but they are the greatest.
