Opera at the park

We tried hearing a live simulcast of Tosca but the kids were too wild. Covered in brownies they just ran up and down the stairs. We knew it was time to leave when a trash can fell on Tonio.Toto with Joshie

Sas Sas

"Sas Sas" is the way you both mean "fast fast". You use it for the swings, running around, playing with your cars. I think of it when I think of how quickly you grow.

- Miguel: Last week you used the potty for the first time (Toto you are still trying to figure it all out) and you got "big candy". You are pretty proud of yourself and love your new underwear. You also say phrases, "Come Mommy" and can listen to a song and try to sing it. You like to sing along to Lennon's "Beautiful Boy". I can hear you yell "O" when ever Lennon sings "a long way to go". The other night you imagined a pool in your room and you could jump in it.

Tonio- You talk a lot! You can count in spanish and English to 3 and then random other numbers. You can also say pato (zapato), waygo (hasta lluego), adios, ninos, fresa, uva, hola, and the such in spanish. You have these crazy cute curls around your head.

You both usually sleep on the floor because you throw your matresses around at night. I warn, "One more time and your beds are gone!" Then the beds are gone and you have more room to run around in circles screaming "Chase you, chase you!"

Today I got all teary eyed watching you both play at the park. You were playing with another little boy and you were just so cute. Just laughing and screaming and running around.

For the past couple of Tuesdays, after you wake up, we have been cooking together while Tonio finishes his nap.  The first cooking Tuesday we made strawberry shortcake and last Tuesday we made peanut butter cookies.  

Use your words.

Miguel, we are trying to get you to use your words more often.  You like to scream and hit so we are trying to calm you.  Then in April, about a month ago you said your first sentence:

Big eagle eat mac cheese.

I was pretty excited because that is a good sentence.  You still dont talk a lot but yesterday you said your first sentence.  At Miyako's, the ice cream store, you said:

I want ice sceem.

Your so cute.

POPPERS!

I don't think there will be anything more satisfying to you than a popper.  Its sad to say but this is it kiddo.  Tonio you love those things so much and they bring such happiness and comfort to you.  You can't have enough.  You sleep with three or four of them and you walk around with one in each hand.  You only use them inside and that is the first thing you look for when you come in, "Popper!".  You say goodbye to your popper too.  You throw it on your bed and say, "bye bye poppa".  We were going to take it away at 6 months and over a year later you still have them.  Your dad and I thought why take away something that brings so much happiness and satisfaction to you.
