Teeth!

The Missing Tooth: Last week, you guys were out riding your scooters down the hill on Sutter Street as the sun was going down. Your mom was teaching that night and it was just the three of us. Miggy kept going faster and faster, acting like the little daredevil that he is. On one of the last times down the, you came down Broderick Street and as you turned onto Sutter, you lost control, flew off the scooter and landed on your face. You had a big scrape on your chin and a little blood coming out of your mouth. I got you inside and cleaned you up and it didn't look too bad - just a small scrape. Two nights later, you were having trouble eating and developed a fever. We gave you some medicine and put you to bed. Around 2am you woke us all up. You were crying and in pain and you wanted to climb into our bed. After a while, I took you to the couch and we slept off and on until the next morning. Your mom had to work that morning, so you Toto and I went to the dentist. You were scared and cried the whole way there. Once we got inside and you sat in the chair, you stopped crying and became a very brave little boy. The dentist x-rayed your teeth and it showed that you broke your tooth completely in half, so it would have to come out. After a little bit of laughing gas and a shot of novacaine, your were ready. The dentist reached inside with a pair of pliers and pulled out the broken tooth. She put it in a little box and let you pick out two toys. You were much happier the rest of the day. That night the tooth fairy brought you a dollar. ~Dad 1/26/11

Happy Birthday Elvis and Grandpa Bill

We had a great dinner celebrating my stepdad's and Elvis's birthday. I made a chocolate, peanut butter, banana cake, we had the birthday boys' pictures up, and danced to our favorite Elvis songs. It felt wonderful.

Champions of the World

Monday we headed off to my old friend Rich's house to watch game five of the World Series. The Giants were up 3-1 to the Rangers. It was a pretty exciting time. We were not expected to even win our division much less make it to the series. So for the whole month of OCtober it was fun. You guys were yelling
"Go Giants" to people on the street, high fiving bus drivers, and watching the games. They won the series- the first in SF and in 56 years. The city went nuts! Today we took you to the ticker tape parade. Tonio you were not having it. It happened to be the warmest days in weeks and after two hours of waiting you were crying and cranky. You didnt like the sun. You didnt like the noise. You wanted to be in the parade. Miguel you did a lot better on your dad's shoulders. What calmed you down was the two lolly pops in your mouth. It was very very exciting to see all the players go by in cable cars.

What was most exciting was the fact that the team was a random mix of guys that really liked playing together. There were no huge Arod like superstars and egos. You felt good about rooting for them and the seemed liked they enjoyed playing together. What a great month!!

Halloween

Over the past couple of weeks you have been so excited about Halloween and being super heroes that you wear your capes everywhere! Last week you both wore your capes downtown. Miguel you have an older one I made for your 2nd birthday and is fraying. Tonio- yours is a red fuzzy blanket tied around your neck. We took the bus to Market to go to Jeffrey Toys to buy your first comic books. The whole experience was great because it still was over a week until Halloween and we were walking in the busiest parts of Market with your capes. People were in their zones or just looking down and then just brightened up to see two little boys in capes walking down the street.

I fixed up your cape Miguel and Tonio I made you a new one. We went to the zoo dressed up in the morning for Boo at the Zoo and then came home for awhile. I thought you were going to die of excitement Tonio. You could hardly wait to go trick or treating. I think if given the choice you would rather never receive another toy than not get another piece of candy. We took the bus up to Grove and Broderick where two or three blocks were shut down. There were many, many haunted houses in peoples' garages, costume contests, and people everywhere. There were also lots of tvs set up because it was game four of the Giants World Series- right at prime trick or treat time. Tonio you were grabbing fistfuls of candy, standing at the top of the stairs pointing at kids, "Hey Mr. Booonnnnesss" "Hey Spiiiiiddddermaaaaan". We ended up at the cafe to watch a two run homer for the Giants, headed home to watch the Giants win the game. It was a great time.

I think we are going to have to go cold turkey on the candy for you starting Tuesday ol Toto.

Funny Things You Say

Tonio:

You like to point to me and say "boobies". You will also say, "Daddy has boobies?" So last week Miguel asked, "Mommy, why does Toto like Boobies?" and Tonio said, "Because I do. I like to touch them."

Miguel and Tonio:
Tonio: I want to be a baby.
Daddy: Why?
Tonio: So I can have a popper at night time.
Tonio: I want to go to New York
Miguel: Tonio you want to get your poppers back!

Tonio:
I am a birdie chaser.
I am an animal chaser.

I want to be a birdie.
I want to be a sparrow.
