Miguel the teenager

Miguel my little 15 year old in a 6 year old body.

He loves to say things like "I dont like you- I hate you".

He is curious about the middle finger.

I caught him sagging his pants twice yesterday.

He likes flare:  he had a friendship bracelet, a live strong like bracelet, and his spidy watch with his hipster jeans on the other day.

My little hellion.

4 More Years

Yesterday was our big election day and whooo Obama won.  It was a relief.

The boys had a great time filling out the electoral maps- making me proud.  Tonio, around 5 ish, sat down with me to watch the results and quickly figured out that red was Romney, blue was Obama and that they were trying to win each state.  It was a perfect game for Tonio: races, maps and numbers.  He loved it.

Halloween

It was a crazy day in San Francisco- a celebration of the city's favorite things- costumes and a parade for the Giants winning the World Series.

Tonio was a police man, Migs a vampire and Arrow a bat.

It was an exhausting day because we had to walk to and from school, navigating the parade that was in the middle of our route.  By the time we got home from school, I was so exhausted I didnt know if we could trick or treat.  We did- in the rain.  The boys were all business- going from house to house on Grove, walking home and then doing the candy dump.

Sleep Training

Dear Arrow-

Its 5:16 am, election day- please let Obama win-, and you have been crying since 4.  You are not a crier.  You are the most perfect, perfect baby except from 4 to 6 am.  The pattern has been at 3 or 4 you go "wah wah" and I get up and feed you.  I dont mind that at all- in fact I enjoy the quiet time with you.  Then I lay you down and you fall back asleep.  Yet lately you either dont fall back asleep or you do only to wake up for the day at 5 am.  It has been exhausting.  I will put you down and you will cry and cry and then when I go in you see me and start to laugh and laugh.  So I pat your back and you pretend you are asleep.  Then I creep out and you scream.  If I go back you laugh as if you are saying, "Ahh, weak lady, I won again".

So right now I sit with ear phones on listening to violin concertos, typing away with a heavy heart as you cry, my love.

Arrow at 8 months

Still happiest baby in the world.

Funny things people say to me:

- "Did you know your child looks like a Jewish therapist?"  A woman came up to me and asked this while I was in line for coffee.
- "I feel like I could tell your son anything and he would listen and give me advice"- the gelato guy at the ferry building.
- "He looks like the way he is going to look when he is older."  - the estate lawyer

How funny people can be.  The main thing is that you are such a smiley boy.

What you do:
- Crawl very fast and on all fours.
- Stand and move around
- Eat almost everything- you like to gnaw on apples.
- You kick like crazy every time you see your brothers.
- You do this Stevie Wonder thing when you get excited

Uncle Pie and Cousin Molly

Uncle Pie and Molly's visit.  Best part... I took all four to the cafe and farmers market solo for my weekly trip.  Everyone felt so sorry for me that I got tons of free stuff- free bagels, dried apricots, apples, honey.  It was kinda worth it.

Arrow's Baptism

You just learned to stand and you are so proud of yourself.

 God Mom - Julie
 God Mom Sue

 The Lion King

Your brother loves you so much.  He really is your biggest fan.

 The best we can do

We held your baptism at Monte River on the deck.  Tony officiated and Julie and Sue are your god moms.  It was beautiful- just beautiful.  There was perfect fall lighting sifting through the trees sparkling off the river.  After the baptism, we had champagne, cheese and crackers (ala Aunt Rita).  Then we went to dinner at the Hide Away and it was just so nice.  The whole day was so nice.
