Family Vacation

We went on our first real family vacation this past week to Monte Rio in the Russian River. It was fantastic. We stayed at the SI priest house and Tony stayed with us on Thursday. After a 2 1/2 hour drive Miguel and Tonio were a little cranky. Once out of the car Miguel could not stop jumping up and down. He just knew it was heaven for him. We spent the afternoon and evening playing ball, relaxing, and having a few refreshments under a gorgeous blue sky on the very comfortable lawn with a view of the river. We spent the days swimming, splashing and throwing rocks. Miguel you loved throwing the rocks and Tonio you enjoyed putting them in your mouth. We went on a great hike in the redwoods near Jenner and had a great fathers day eating pancakes at the local cafe and of course swimming. We ended our trip at In-n-Out. Your pops said "I just love how much Miguel enjoys this place." It was wonderfully relaxing and beautiful trip. Yeah Summer!

King of the Mountain

Miguel you are a dare devil 100%. Today at the park you climbed on the first rung of a rope ladder and looked stuck. Then your pops taught you how to climb up and then there was no stopping you. This was about 8-9 feet high and you would climb to the top and jump down into your pop's arms with the biggest smile on your face. It was amazing. Tonio would sit at the bottom standing and bouncing. He wanted to follow you up.

Summer Fun

Heat Wave! It is about 90-95 degrees today. It rarely gets this hot here but despite being raised in SF you both are still Angelinos at heart and can handle this. Yesterday afternoon we all went to Crissy Field and played at the beach. Tonio was covered with sunblock and Miguel, you, poured sand on his head so he looked like a sugar doughnut. Later on when we got home I put baby powder on your head to get the sand off but it just caked on. Your pops said you looked like some raver. After the beach we looked at turtles at the lake at the Palace of Fine Arts and then ate lunch there. We ate ice cream at Miyako near home. Miguel you had a wild cherry cone and Tonio ate all of ours. Yesterday was perfect. I love hot weather- besides you two- its what makes my heart sing. You both were covered in sand and ice cream and I said "Tonio give me a kiss". Then you leaned forward and touched your lips with mine. Your pops said it was an accident but you did it two more times. I love you. Miguel you were so tired you put yourself to sleep.

Today I set up the pool in the back and you two splashed around all day. Last year, Miguel, you could not get out of the water, now you are a little nervous but you are still obsessed. You just throw things in the water and splash from the outside. You love splashing Tons.

Changes

Hanging out with you two can be so fun but so extremely tiring. Tonio you are learning so quickly. Just last week you started to do your funky crawl and today you stood up in your crib. You just want to go. You watch Miguel run all over and you want that too. You give me an ego boost too. I feel that you love me more than anyone in the world. You follow me everywhere and when I sit on the floor you have to be crawling on me or trying to sit in my lap. It is tiring to others because if I am not around you are pretty whinny lately. You have been crying a lot more. Tonight you cried long and hard before finally falling to sleep. I went in after 15 minutes and held you and you were fine and then I put you down and then you cried hysterically until you fell asleep. It breaks my heart. I think you are learning and growing so much that you get frustrated and it interferes with your sleep. Plus it does not help having Miguel steal all your toys and constantly hitting you on the head. I marvel at you Tonio.

Miguel you are just funny. You flirt with everyone. You are so popular around here. The garbage man stopped and talked to you yesterday, everyone came out from behind the counter at the Cafe to say hi, and at the school district everyone had to come and meet you and tickle you. You just give a shy smile and those big brown eyes melt everyone. You have been very good lately, except tormenting poor Tonio. It has been fun hanging out with you. I love you so much.

Jumping, teething, and hide n seek

This has been an exciting week for both Miguelito and Tonio. Brian taught Miguel how to jump and he played his first game of hide n seek. He loves trying to jump. He bounces on his knees a couple of times and then lifts about a half inch of the ground. Tonio's fifth tooth is pretty stubborn. I can see it but it just wont break through. Every day I say tomorrow it will come through and I have been saying it since Sunday and its Friday already. Tonio is offically crawling, a funky crawl, but a crawl nevertheless. His one knee is to the ground and moving and the back leg is still crossed and he just drags that one around. He gets around though. Yesterday he went into the hall and started to cry; I think he got lost. Overall it has been a wonderful week with the little guys. Both were in great spirits and we had fun together.
